Ski and Biathlon Complex of the Republic of Mordovia is one of the most important sports facilities of the region. Its construction was started in 2005 in the framework of Federal special purpose programme “Development of sport and physical culture in the Russian Federation for 2006 – 2015”. On July 17, 2007 the modern sports facility was ceremonially commissioned. The day following the ceremony the complex hosted the first competition – championship of Russia in summer biathlon.
Located in the picturesque part of Saransk, Ski and Biathlon Complex includes administrative building with comfortable rooms for sportsmen’s staying, comfortable locker-rooms, a gym, a press-centre, a commentator’s cabin and a bar. The complex is also equipped with 30 electronic shooting installations, a room for skis preparation, 2 stands for 500 and 700 people, a room for rifles storage, rooms for teams showers, a gym, a bar for 40 people, a room for 400 pairs of skis rent. 8-lined electronic table with the running line. Lighted ski track with the length of 2.6 km with the change of heights up to 85 m. When the complex is free of competitions students and school children train there, rent of snowmobiles and skiing inventory in winter and ski-rollers and rolling-skates in summer is available. At that young fans of sport and healthy life style receive the inventory free of charge. In the period less than a year Ski and Biathlon Complex of the Republic of Mordovia became a favourite place for rest and leisure among residents and guests of Saransk.
